Dear Heart & Soul Parents,

We want to take a few moments and update you on our preliminary additional safety precautions that we are currently in the process of implementing. Though it is simply impossible for us to guarantee in writing that you will not come in contact with any germs or viruses here at Heart and Soul, we CAN guarantee that we are continuing to do everything possible to provide our staff, our students, and their families a clean, sanitized, and safe environment in which to participate in their extracurricular activities.

As so many of you have pointed out in emails, and also on our recent survey, Heart and Soul has provided extremely clean and sanitized facilities since the very beginning. We have a professional cleaning service that cleans and disinfects all of our locations every night, seven days a week, with safe and effective hospital grade sanitizers.

In addition to those services we are very excited to tell you that we have added BIOPROTECTUs, an EPA registered technologies – Sanitize and Defend Kit.

As we continue to await specific guidelines from our government as to when and how we will be allowed to reopen, we have implemented the following preliminary safety precautions:

Oro Valley Gymnastics

  • Students and their families will enter through the main entrance and have their temperature taken with a touchless thermometer. Please do not arrive at the facility more than 5 minutes early, as there will be other classes exiting and we would like to avoid crossover as much as possible.
  • Students will exit the gym from the exterior door, located on the opposite side of the lobby entrance. Parents who choose to sit in our lobby area will be asked to sit six feet apart and leave 10 minutes prior to the end of class so that our staff members can sanitize the area before allowing the next group to enter. We ask that you walk down the sidewalk and pick up your child from the gymnasium exit.
  • We will continue to maintain our small class sizes. During times where there are multiple classes in the gym at once, our coaches have been instructed to not allow crossover between their classes.
  • In addition to our current hand sanitizing stations, we will be adding four additional stations inside the gym area. Students will be asked to sanitize their hands before and after every class.
  • Because of safety reasons we will not require our staff or students to wear masks during their physical activity. However, anyone who chooses to wear a mask may do so. We will be providing extra breaks for ALL students so that no one feels singled out for wearing/not wearing a mask.
  • We will no longer sell snacks, or other merchandise, in the lobby area.
  • There will no longer be a play area offered for siblings. If you have small children that must accompany you, please have them sit directly beside you and do not allow them to roam the lobby area.
  • We know that it is fun to bring family members to watch your child participate in gymnastics and dance classes, however we will have limiting seating available and ask that you bring only immediate/necessary family members.
  • Our water fountains will not be available for use, so please continue to send a labeled water bottle with your child.
  • We will have additional employees on site that will be taking temperatures prior to entering the facility, and wiping down communal areas before, during, and after classes.

Central Dance, Combo, and Gymnastics

  • Students and their families will enter through the main entrance and have their temperature taken with a touchless thermometer. Please do not arrive at the facility more than 5 minutes early, as there will be other classes exiting and we would like to avoid crossover as much as possible.
  • Students will exit the studios from the exterior doors, located on the opposite side of the lobby entrance. Please ensure that your dancers are wearing street shoes when they arrive so that they will not ruin their dance shoes by walking in the dirt/rock area.
  • Parents who choose to sit in our lobby area will be asked to sit six feet apart and leave 10 minutes prior to the end of class so that our staff members can sanitize the area before allowing the next group to enter. We ask that you walk to the side of the building and pick up your child from the exterior exit.
  • We will continue to maintain our small class sizes.
  • In addition to our current hand sanitizing stations, we will be adding additional stations inside the dance rooms and preschool gym area.
  • We will no longer sell snacks in the lobby area.
  • We will no longer have tap or ballet shoes to borrow. You can usually find a nice selection of pink ballet shoes and black tap shoes at Target or Walmart.
  • Our water fountains will not be available for use, so please continue to send a labeled water bottle with your child.
  • We will have additional employees on site that will be taking temperatures prior to entering the facility, and wiping down communal areas before, during, and after classes.

Summer Camp at Oro Valley

  • Parents who have registered their children for Summer Camp will be emailed a copy of our final safety procedures and will be asked to bring a signed copy with you on the first day of your camper’s attendance. We will have blank copies available for you to sign, however it will save time if you bring the signed form with you. Please discuss the importance of following these guidelines with your children prior to arriving at camp.
  • Campers will enter through the main entrance and have their temperature taken with a touchless thermometer. We ask that parents bring their campers to the main entrance, but that you do not enter the facility with your child unless there is an extenuating circumstance. We will have someone to greet you, take their temperature, and attach their group’s colored wristband before you leave the facility.
  • If your camper begins to show any signs of sickness, we will call you and ask that you pick up your child immediately. We will do our best to keep any child who begins to show signs of sickness away from the other campers without making him/her feel isolated. We will alert all parents via email if a camper is sent home during the day.
  • Our water fountains will not be available for use, so please continue to send a labeled water bottle with your child.
  • Because of safety reasons we will not require our staff or students to wear masks during their physical activity. However, anyone who chooses to wear a mask may do so. We will be providing extra breaks for ALL students so that no one feels singled out for wearing/not wearing a mask.
  • At the end of the day (12:00 for half day/3:30 for full day), campers will exit the gym from the exterior door, located on the opposite side of the lobby entrance. There will be signs posted at the entrance and exit areas.
  • Parents will receive more specific camp information prior to the first day of your specific week of camp.

Dance Recital Update

  • We are all so saddened that our Dance Recital will not take place on June 6, as originally scheduled! However, we are hard at work trying to secure a new date so that our dancers will have their time on the big stage!
  • Last year at our Recital we hosted over 400 attendees, not counting our dancers, at each of our four shows. This year we are expecting to host five separate shows with over 600 attendees at each show. With those large numbers, we must await clear and specific guidelines from our government before being able to announce our new Recital date. Once those guidelines are released from the government, we will send out updated information ASAP.
  • We know that some of you are concerned about costumes fitting after a three month delay…those little ones can grow like weeds! Our Dance Managers, Olivia and Elizabeth, will be in touch with each of you as the time approaches. We will work these things out together!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this update. Please discuss the importance of following these guidelines with your children prior to arriving at their class. Your support during this uncertain time means so much to us, and in return, we want to support you and your family as best we can! We have tried to give as much information as possible as we begin preparations, but if you think of any questions, please do not hesitate to ask! We hope that you are all staying healthy and that we are able to see you again very soon!

– Your Heart & Soul Family
